SALEM, Oregon, September 24, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – Oregon Republicans called for a hearing to question Planned Parenthood on how it disposes aborted babies, but a Democrat had the investigation abruptly canceled.

The Oregon House Health Care Committee, led by Rep. Mitch Greenlick (D-Portland), set a hearing for September 28 in response to nineteen Republicans calling for answers from the state's largest abortion business. But Democrat House Speaker Tina Kotek ordered Greenlick to stop state legislators from asking questions.

Greenlick justified dropping the Planned Parenthood investigation by simply saying, “I follow orders.”

Greenlick explained that Speaker Kotek, who is openly lesbian and has “married” Aimee Wilson, thought the allegations against Planned Parenthood were “ludicrous.” In a phone interview with The Oregonian, Greenlick said, “I came to agree with her. I was hoping we could have a calm rational hearing, but that didn't seem possible anymore.”

House Minority Leader Mike McLane (R-Powell Butte), in the Republicans' original letter last month asking for a hearing, wrote, “Verbal assurances from those who may be violating the law are simply not good enough. … A hearing before your committee is the most direct means of assuring … disclosure.”

Kotek, who ordered the questioning to stop before it started, ignored the undercover videos in her comments justifying canceling the investigation. She said she has seen “zero evidence” against Planned Parenthood and that Republicans “drummed up” their allegations.

“House Republicans made it clear that they intended to turn this hearing into a political stunt,” Kotek complained, “bringing D.C.-style games to the Oregon House.”

Pro-life legislators and Oregon citizens are concerned since The Center for Medical Progress released a series of undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood of trafficking in baby organs, including illegally modifying abortion procedures to ensure “intact” babies and “live” organs.

It is illegal for the abortion giant to profit from the sale of the “end product” of their business. Nevertheless, one Planned Parenthood official was videoed negotiating the price for aborted babies, because, in her words, “I want a Lamborghini.”

A spokeswoman for Oregon Health & Science University, Beth Heinrich, admitted that aborted baby “tissue” from Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette is, in fact, sold to research facilities and that Planned Parenthood receives “facility fees and other payment.” Heinrich clarified that payments Planned Parenthood receives are “for direct services related to the studies,” and not for the tissue donation.

House Republicans expressed dissatisfaction in the investigation being canceled.  “The Speaker's dismissal of [our] concerns is disrespectful, and stifles dialogue on an issue that is important to Oregonians from all walks of life.”

Oregon's governor, Kate Brown, is the first openly bisexual governor in United States history. The judge who struck down Oregon's same-sex marriage ban, Michael McShane, is openly homosexual.
