DETROIT, Apr 27, 2001 (LSN.ca) – On Thursday, federal judges overturned partial-birth abortion bans in Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin following the Cahart decision of the US Supreme Court regarding Nebraska’s partial-birth abortion ban.

AP reports that in Michigan, U.S. District Judge Arthur Tarnow blocked the state’s Infant Protection act of 1999 and in Illinois and Wisconsin, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago blocked those states’ laws on the same issue. If found guilty of committing the gruesome late-term abortion procedure, abortionists faced up to life in prison. However, the laws included exceptions to preserve the life of the mother, a situation that, according to pro-life physicians, does not exist.
