CALGARY, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) – Canadian Christian Pastor Artur Pawlowski was released from a Calgary jail on bail this afternoon after his legal team agreed to terms that allowed him to go home with his family.

Pawlowski was locked up for 51 days, starting February 8, and he spent a lot of the time in solitary confinement in conditions his family earlier described as “filthy.”

According to Rebel News, the people who gathered to welcome Pawlowski after his release were told by authorities that they had to leave immediately or they would arrest Pawlowski again.

Shortly after the warning, video shows Pawlowski being greeted by his wife and son after leaving jail.

Last Friday, Pawlowski was granted bail by a provincial court judge on mischief and critical infrastructure charges. However, he was not released right away after added charges were placed against him for which additional bail conditions had to be met.

He was then transferred from the Calgary Remand Centre to the Edmonton Remand Centre over the weekend but was sent back to Calgary to be released today.

Despite being out of jail today, Pawlowski is under strict house arrest conditions that will severely limit his movement.

He will be mandated to a house curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. except to attend his church services and is barred from attending protests of any kind or meeting with the public.

His wife and son will act as his sureties, having to pay a total of $12,000.

As for Pawlowski, he had to post $25,000 in bail on his own.

The judge placed a publication ban on Pawlowski’s court proceedings, meaning the full details of what transpired cannot be published until a later date.

However, Pawlowski’s lawyer, Sarah Miller, said in an interview with Rebel News that what she can say is that “ultimately” the judge “made the right decision and she released Artur Pawlowski from prison on the conditions that we proposed. They are quite strict.”

Miller noted that Pawlowski being in prison for so long “just seems so wrong in law,” but said she is happy he is allowed to go home.

Pawlowski is facing at least three trials in the next coming months on multiple charges.

Last month, a provincial judge denied Pawlowski bail, claiming he was a threat to “public safety” because he refuses to comply with COVID health rules.

Pawlowski was arrested for the fifth time on February 8 by an undercover SWAT team just before he was slated to speak at a peaceful Freedom Convoy protest at the Alberta-U.S. border near Coutts, Alberta.

In February, Pawlowski traveled to Coutts and gave a sermon to truckers blockading the highway, telling them peacefully to “hold the line.”

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney claimed that Pawlowski has been detained “by the police because of multiple breaches of terms of release court orders, as well as an incitement to an alleged incitement to violence at the Coutts Border Crossing blockade.”

However, Pawlowski’s son Nathaniel called this a lie.

Pawlowski’s supporters had been holding daily prayer vigils in support of the preacher outside the Calgary jail where he was being held, demanding his immediate release.

Besides Pawlowski, two other Christian pastors were jailed for going against COVID rules limiting church attendance size.

Pawlowski and his brother Dawid made international headlines after they were arrested in a highway takedown in May 2021 for holding worship services contrary to Alberta’s COVID rules affecting church service capacity limits.

Both spent a total of three nights in solitary confinement.
