WASHINGTON, D.C., July 29, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – Representatives of LifeSiteNews and the Personhood Alliance delivered an urgent petition calling on the American Medical Association (AMA) to stop its political and legal attacks against new pro-life laws.

Last Friday, one of LifeSiteNews’ campaign coordinators, Scott Schittl, and Personhood Alliance president Gualberto Garcia Jones hand-delivered a petition with more than 14,000 signatures to the AMA’s Government Policy office in Washington, D.C.

Under the leadership of its newly elected president, Dr. Patrice Harris, the AMA is suing the state of North Dakota to overturn two informed consent laws.

In a legal brief attacking the two North Dakota laws, the AMA’s claim that informing women that chemical abortions can be reversed, and that abortion ends the life of a living human being, is false and unscientific.

But contrary to what the AMA is arguing in its lawsuit, the reality is that the science of chemical abortion reversal is sound, and the fact that abortion ends the life of a developing human being is incontrovertible.

As LifeSiteNews has previously reported, more than 500 doctors nationwide are now routinely reversing chemical abortions. Many others are delivering babies saved by the abortion pill reversal treatment.

Dr. Matthew Harrison, one of the founders of the abortion pill reversal protocol who has saved multiple babies through abortion pill reversal treatment, has found that the protocol is, in fact, a lifesaving treatment:

“We have not seen any bad side effects in the mothers who have received the injections or treatments other than irritation at the shot site,” Dr. Harrison told LifeSiteNews. “The sooner they seek treatment the better. We just want them to know that it is safe, and there is hope, and there are people that care and are ready to help them.”

On the political plane, the mainstream media are touting this as a tipping point moment for the AMA and a victory for the abortion lobby, which has finally managed to get the AMA to stop pretending to be neutral on abortion.

Indeed, it now seems that the AMA is showing its true colors on this vital issue.

In this case, the AMA has decided to deny basic biology and has fully cast its lot with pro-abortion interest groups such as Planned Parenthood.

However, it should be noted that none of the representatives of the AMA – who have A LOT of experience in hard-nosed negotiations with government agencies – would so much as return our calls or emails.

So we decided we had no alternative but to door-stop them.

But after initially being told that a staff member would accept our petition in the lobby of their Washington office, the AMA then refused to even make the trip downstairs to “face the music.”

It is of interest because, while the AMA has clearly taken on the outward characteristic of a pro-abortion lobbying organization, it seems the organization doesn’t have the courage of its own convictions to meet with people who oppose its anti-woman, anti-child, anti-life point of view.

Perhaps they were afraid of “saying the wrong thing” and later being quoted by LifeSiteNews?!?

Nevertheless, LifeSite’s Scott Schittl was pleased with the outcome. “This (the AMA’s refusal to meet with us, its opposition) just shows how ideological they have become, refusing to allow discussion and basic science to get in the way of their pro-abortion agenda,” he said. “The AMA’s authority will be diminished by their promotion of this death culture ideology.”

“The hundreds of lives which have been saved because of the abortion pill reversal protocol is living testament to the effective and safe use of commonly-used drugs to change the designed outcome of a chemical abortion,” Schittl added. “It is insulting to women that the AMA and Planned Parenthood would seek to deprive women of their ‘choice’ to stop an abortion and save the life of their unborn babies.”

“It would seem that the reason the AMA and Planned Parenthood are fighting so hard against the abortion pill reversal protocol is that, if they were to concede on this point, they would also have to concede both that abortion takes the life of another distinct, living human being, who has intrinsic value in and of himself, AND that ‘choice’ is such an arbitrary (and, fickle) reason to take another person’s life,” he concluded.

LifeSiteNews and the Personhood Alliance plan to continue our reports and petitions against the American Medical Association until such time as it reverses its pro-abortion bias and policy, and, again, returns to a life-affirming practice of medicine.
