MALACAÑANG, Philippines, March 25, 2004 ( – In an announcement during a mass celebrating the Catholic solemnity of the Annunciation today, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared March 25 as Day of the Unborn in the country.  The Buenos Aires archdiocese is also observing the Day of the Unborn on today’s solemnity. The archdiocese has organized a public event to coincide with the Day in which theologians and public figures will speak on “the value of life as a gift of God, of marriage as the proper context for life to be born, and the constant surprise of the dignity of life,” as reported by Zenit news.  The solemnity of the Annunciation is a two-fold celebration—it marks the incarnation of Christ, the moment He took on flesh within the womb of the Virgin, and Mary’s decision to accept the role that was asked of her.
