RICHMOND, Virginia, November 1, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Planned Parenthood supplied Virginia Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam with talking points just hours after his infamous January interview in which he endorsed allowing an unwanted newborn to die in certain circumstances, according to newly revealed documents.

In late January, video went viral from a hearing in which Republican Del. Todd Gilbert grilled Democrat Del. Kathy Tran on her bill to repeal regulations on late-term abortions. He asked if her bill would allow an abortion as late as when a mother “has physical signs that she is about to give birth.”

Tran answered, “I don't think we have a limit in the bill […] my bill would allow that, yes.”

The bill was soon tabled, but the ensuing controversy led to Northam defending the bill on the grounds that in cases of “severe deformities” or a “nonviable” baby, he said, a born-alive infant would be “delivered,” “kept comfortable,” but after that the child would “be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

Northam said in the weeks to follow “I don’t have any regrets” about his words in that January 30 interview, but internally his office’s headaches were apparently severe enough to warrant rapid damage-control assistance from Planned Parenthood, the Washington Times reports.

An open-records request from the conservative legal group Judicial Watch obtained 115 pages’ worth of emails showing that on January 30, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia executive director Missy Wesolowski had forwarded Deputy state Health and Human Resources Secretary Gena Berger a memo titled “Topline messages for Northam.”

The memo, written by Planned Parenthood’s Alexsis Rodgers, contained guidance on how to answer “tricky” questions regarding late-term abortion, as well as talking points such as “There is no such thing as abortion until birth,” “These are complicated medical decisions that families deserve to make in private without political interference,” and “As a physician, I know how important it is to trust my patients and for my patients to trust me.”

“These new emails show that Planned Parenthood was running the press operations of the Governor of Virginia Ralph Northam after he endorsed infanticide during a radio interview,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton declared.

Contrary to the abortion lobby’s talking points, abortion until birth is very real – as is “abortion” after birth.

“There have been many cases and multiple witnesses who have come forward and admitted that they saw babies either actively or passively killed after they survived an abortion,” retired OB/GYN and former abortionist Dr. Kathi Aultman testified in September. “In Florida, a woman who had laminaria placed in her cervix to dilate it returned for her procedure, but the doctor was late, and she delivered a live baby girl at 23 weeks. A clinic owner with no medical experience sniped the cord and placed the still living baby and the placenta in a biohazard bag. The remains were found by police a week later after several calls from an informer.”

Tessa Longbons, a Charlotte Lozier research associate, also testified that CDC data found 143 infant deaths from 2003 to 2014 that had been coded as induced abortion or spontaneous miscarriage, which “may be a considerable undercount” as just seven states (Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Texas) have provided data on at least 160 babies to survive abortions.

Republicans have proposed legislation to require abortionists to transfer infants who survive abortions to hospitals, where they would be given the same degree of care as any wanted newborn, as well as to require states to report instances of a child being delivered alive after an attempted abortion.

Democrats have repeatedly blocked the first of those measures; readers can click here to read, sign, and share LifeSiteNews’ petition urging the U.S. House to vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
