SPRINGFIELD, Illinois, November 6, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – Planned Parenthood sold its Springfield Health Center abortion facility's building and property to the Springfield Mass Transit District (SMTD) for $470,000. The supposedly non-profit Planned Parenthood received funds from the sale in taxpayer money as federal grants.
But Planned Parenthood is still committing abortions at the facility. In fact, the business is paying SMTD $1 a month to lease its own former building.
Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Julie Lynn explained they now operate under a lease agreement with the transit agency's managing director, Frank Squires. “Our doors are still open,” Lynn said. “We have a lease, and we're fulfilling that lease.”
Lynn says the lease agreement allows Planned Parenthood to stay at least a year or more. “I'm not entirely sure how long we plan to be there,” she said.
When and where Planned Parenthood plans to move is not known, but Lynn said they do plan to remain in Springfield, aborting children.

Pro-Life Action League Executive Director Eric J. Scheidler told LifeSiteNews, “We're encouraged to learn that the Planned Parenthood facility in Springfield will be closing within the next year. That can't come soon enough.”
Scheidler added, “But the Pro-Life Action League is committed to preventing Planned Parenthood from relocating anywhere else in Springfield. I look forward to working with local pro-life activists to keep that from happening.”
The property sale is for SMTD's future bus transfer center along the 10th Street rail corridor, away from overcrowded Capitol Avenue.
Springfield Right to Life president Tim Moore commented, “We hope they will close their doors permanently.” Moore said his organization will do all it can to keep Planned Parenthood from opening up somewhere else in Springfield.
Moore, who served 12 years on the Sangamon County Board, said they will ask local zoning officials and municipal officials to turn down all future building requests from Planned Parenthood. He said pro-lifers will warn targeted neighborhoods as soon as the abortion giant's plans are known.
Moore noted that Springfield doesn't need the multi-billion-dollar business that profits from the sale of aborted babies, because Springfield women can get the same or better low-cost services from other medical clinics and agencies in the area.
