PLANNED PARENTHOOD MOVES TO UPHOLD MYTHS, STIFLE FREE SPEECH

REGINA, June 25, 2002 (LSN.ca) – The Planned Parenthood Federation’s Regina branch is suing a tiny group of protestors in a bid to uphold the myth that PPF is merely a benevolent “health” organization, and to deprive Christians of their free speech.  Planned Parenthood Federation, in fact a multinational contraception-abortion-sterilization conglomerate, was founded by Margaret Sanger (1879-1966) to promote contraception. Today its abortion network collects $69 million per year from abortions alone, and has raked in $815 million since 1977 from an estimated three million abortions in the U.S., according to CNSNews.com.  The Regina branch plant is suing pro-life activist Bill Whatcott, and a small group calling themselves Christian Truth Activists, for alleged defamation and harrassment. The lawsuit claims that on five days in April and May, they placed signs outside the PPF office saying: “Planned Parenthood Aborts Babies,”“Hitler’s Holocaust” and “Canada’s Holocaust by Abortion.” Planned Parenthood also claims Whatcott and his associates called its customers “fornicators,” and said, “Keep your pants on,”“Planned Parenthood shares in the blood of innocent babies,”“Murder is a crime” and “God is not pleased with this crime.”“He has certainly intimidated people,” says Doug Kovatch, lawyer for the Regina office, which wants the courts to impose a three-block bubble zone to keep the Christians away. Kovatch says the “defamatory” statement that Planned Parenthood aborts babies is “completely false.” He says the Regina office provides only information.  Whatcott said: “I will defend myself [from] these items and refuse to divulge the names of those who protested with me. Please pray for my wife and I as we take on this Goliath.
