WASHINGTON, D.C., January 15, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – Planned Parenthood says two top pro-life Republicans showed “disrespect” in promoting life and religious liberty, respectively, during president Obama's final State of the Union address.

In a tweet issued Tuesday night, America's largest abortion company said that House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-WI, and Rep. Steve King, R-IA, “used tonight's #SOTU address to send an anti-abortion message. The disrespect.”

King skipped Obama's address, saying that he was leaving both his own seat and one reserved in the House gallery empty “to commemorate the lives of more than 55 million aborted babies, 'the chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world.'”

“My seat on the floor of Congress will also be empty,” said King. “I will be in the Member's chapel praying for God to raise up a leader whom he will use to restore the Soul of America.”

Conversely, Ryan invited the Little Sisters of the Poor to be guests during the speech. The Sisters are fighting the Obama administration's abortifacient and sterilization insurance mandate.

“The Little Sisters of the Poor care for the most vulnerable among us, and they should be free to practice their faith without the threat of government interference or intimidation,” Ryan said in a statement on Monday. “The Sisters' stand in defense of religious liberty – one of our most fundamental rights – is nothing short of courageous, and it's my privilege to support their cause.”
