UNITED NATIONS, June 9 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The International Planned Parenthood Federation Charter on Sexual and Reproductive Rights was presented at the UN Bejing +5 conference this week.  The charter calls for among others, “the right to life; the right to liberty and security of the person; the right to privacy; the right to freedom of thought; the right to freedom of assembly and political participation.”  While noble sounding, the rights demands are revealed as farcical given the definitions of the “rights” which run counter to their normal definitions.

“The Right to Life” in the charter is restricted to “human beings having been born.” “The Right to Liberty and Security of the Person” commits to taking all steps to ensure that “All persons have the right to be free from externally imposed fear, shame, guilt, beliefs based on myths, and other psychological factors inhibiting their sexual response or impairing their sexual relationships.” Potentially this “right” stands to obliterate freedom of religion since expression of religious strictures on sexual matters could cause guilt. Similarly, “The Right to Freedom of Thought” commits itself to ensuring “All persons have the right to be free from the restrictive interpretation of religious texts, beliefs, philosophies and customs as tools to curtail freedom of thought on sexual and reproductive health care and other issues.”

Hypocritically the document contains “The Right to Freedom of Assembly and Political Participation” which states that “All persons have the right to assemble and to canvass for sexual and reproductive health and rights.”  The statement of this right rings hollow however considering the efforts of IPPF in union with other abortion providers to stifle the freedom of pro-life activists going as far as targeting pro-lifers with abusive racketeering lawsuits.
