March 7, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – If the itinerary for Planned Parenthood’s “Truth Tour” sounds eerily familiar, that might be because it’s almost an exact replica of the itinerary of the 2,000-mile pro-life “Women Speak Out” bus tour that launched today in Iowa.

Planned Parenthood announced the imitation bus tour on Sunday, billing it as a chance for supporters of the abortion giant to counter the “lies” of the pro-life tour “with the truth and to demonstrate just how much support we have in communities and online.”

The Planned Parenthood bus will almost exactly mimic the route of the pro-life bus, except that it plans on showing up an hour before the “Women Speak Out” bus in each city. The Planned Parenthood bus also won’t be visiting a couple of cities that the pro-life bus will.

The “Women Speak Out: Defund Planned Parenthood” tour is led by Live Action president Lila Rose and former Colorado Rep. Marilyn Musgrave. It will include press conferences and rallies in 13 congressional districts. (See the schedule here)

Today, pro-life blogger Jill Stanek responded to the news of Planned Parenthood’s imitation tour, writing, “The very real threat of losing taxpayer funding has forced PP to face Lila Rose, quite uncharacteristic – and pretty amazing.”

“The next few days will no doubt be wild,” she said, referring to the looming battle over a measure that would defund Planned Parenthood. The measure, which has already been passed in the House of Representatives, is due for a vote in the Senate this week, possibly as early as Tuesday.

“Please, more than ever, attempt to attend one of SBA List/Lila Rose’s rallies if they are anywhere near you,” said Stanek. “PP will no doubt enlist staffers and union workers to attend theirs, which we’ve seen before.  We must show them up by our commitment to protect innocent preborn human life.”

Pro-life groups with the Expose Planned Parenthood Coalition have launched an all-out effort to lobby U.S. senators to pass the measure to defund Planned Parenthood. To find out more, click here.
