MADINA, Ghana, September 5, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Police have arrested an abortionist caught on camera sexually molesting his patients as they lay on his bloodstained operating table, according to media in Ghana.
Dr. Joshua Drah, who operates the Universal Mission Clinic in the town of Madina, stands accused of luring his victims into having unprotected intercourse in the middle of their abortions, claiming it was necessary to open the birth canal.
Renowned Ghanian investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas claims Drah slept with “thousands of women who have come under his knife.”
Anas reportedly disguised himself as a clinic worker to set up a hidden camera in the clinic, where he says he documented Drah sexually assaulting 52 women over a three month period.
Drah, he wrote, “has for over a decade demeaned womanhood, flouted laws of the land and supervised numerous abortions – some of which have gone horribly wrong leading to complications and death of clients in extreme cases.”
Anas wrote yesterday that Drah originally denied charges under questioning at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters before being confronted with the film. He writes Drah also admitted to operating on a lapsed license while awaiting renewal.
According to the website Ghana Web, “visible signs of blood clots adorn the feet of the bed” in the video.

The website – which says Drah’s father was “a pioneer of abortion clinics in the area” – states his assistants dispose of fetal remains by adding water to the a bucket containing the aborted child’s remains and flushing the mixture down the clinic’s manhole.
“His clientele brought into sharp focus the issue of sexual enthusiasm that leads to teenage pregnancy allied with the dangerous and lethal issues of abortion,” Anas wrote.
Anas has received high accolades for his past undercover journalistic work, even being praised by name by President Barack Obama when he spoke to Ghana’s parliament in 2009, saying the journalist often “risked his life to report the truth.”
Numerous abortionists have been accused or convicted of sexually abusing their patients, including Dr. Brian Finkel, Dr. Rodolfo Finkelstein, Laurence Reich, and Dr. Narendra Sharma.
The number of abortions in Ghana reportedly doubled between 2009 and 2011, mostly to women aged 15 to 24.
The Guttmacher Institute reports that although abortion has been “legal on fairly broad grounds in Ghana” since 1985, abortion-related deaths account for 11 percent of all maternal deaths.
Portions of Anas’ captured video were scheduled to air on Multi TV’s Joy News Channel Wednesday evening.
