VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) – In his Sunday Angelus address, Pope Francis asked the Church to pray so that the assembled global leaders at the COP26 climate conference might hear the “cry of the earth” and “of the poor.”

The Pontiff did not mention any moral crisis.

After his recitation of the Angelus with the pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis addressed the subject of the COP26 “climate change” conference currently being held in Glasgow, Scotland.

In his brief comments, Francis asked the Church “to pray so that the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor might be heard; that this meeting might provide efficacious responses, offering concrete hope to future generations.”

The Pope also referred to a photo exhibition being held in St. Peter’s Square from October 31 through November 8, which is supposed “to push the issue of the care of creation at COP26 in Glasgow.”

Cardinal Peter Turkson, the Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, which is sponsoring the show, praised the “climate change” themed photo exhibition, saying that “Art opens us up to worlds of different vision.”

“The interpretation given by the creators of this exhibition, a young Muslim photographer from Bangladesh and a Catholic filmmaker, not only shows us that ‘nature is full of words of love’ (Laudato i’, 225), but that we can enter into dialogue with Creation, our common home, and with our brothers and sisters to show the profound artistry of our ecosystem,” Turkson elaborated.

Prior to the Pope’s Sunday comments, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State and the Holy See’s lead delegate at the COP26 meeting, told Vatican News on Saturday that “the responses to COVID-19 and to climate change can really fulfill the hope expressed by Pope Francis in Laudato si’.”

Equating the “common good” with climate-related action, Parolin spoke of “a cultural challenge to promote the common good and a change of outlook that will set human dignity at the centre of every action.”

“It is the Holy See’s hope that COP26 will reaffirm the centrality of multilateralism and of action, also with regard to the so-called nonstate actors,” stated Carinal Parolin.

“Given the slow progress made so far, the Glasgow conference will prove quite important, for it will measure and motivate the collective will and the level of ambition of individual states.”

UPDATE 10/29/2021:

Joe Biden claims Pope Francis said he should continue receiving Holy Communion, despite the president's radical, anti-Catholic support for abortion. Biden asserted that the pontiff “was happy I’m a good Catholic,” and that the president should “keep receiving Communion.”

Please SIGN this urgent petition to Pope Francis urging him to clarify what he told Biden at his private audience in Rome. Biden should be facing formal excommunication because of his public and obstinate promotion of abortion, but instead we have the perverse situation in which he claims to have the blessing of the pope to sacrilegiously receive Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. Pope Francis must clarify what exactly was said in order to avoid scandal and being complicit in such grave sin. If Joe Biden wishes to return to communion with the Church he must immediately and publicly stop and repent from his active support of the culture of death.

To ensure that this petition reaches Pope Francis, it will also be CC'ed to the Papal Nuncio of the United States, Archbishop Christophe Pierre, as well as to the Chairman of the Pro-Life Committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Joseph Naumann.

Indeed, Joe Biden recently proposed a budget which would eliminate the Hyde Amendment, potentially allowing billions of taxpayer dollars to go to the funding of abortion domestically.

So, it is now an indisputable fact that Joe Biden, himself, is forcing abortion on the American public as well as around the world (e.g., Biden's executive order abolishing the Mexico City Policy).

However, since we know that the Church prioritizes abortion as the "pre-eminent" moral issue, and also how the pope has recently reiterated the teaching that abortion is "homicide," we ask the Pope to ensure that Biden's scandalous claim be clarified and his support for abortion be condemned.

This is the prime opportunity for the pope to make it crystal clear to Biden: Promoting abortion is absolutely and utterly incompatible with being in communion with the Church, and that those politicians who publicly and obstinately support abortion effectively put themselves outside communion with the Church, but also merit formal excommunication.

Joe Biden's active and concentrated promotion of abortion since he took office only 9 months ago is a grave scandal to the faithful of the United States, and to Catholics everywhere.

But, perhaps even more scandalous is the USCCB's decision not to directly and publicly address how Biden's radical, public promotion of abortion affects his standing in the Church.

The silence from our American shepherds is deafening.

Therefore, Pope Francis must now intervene to protect both the Holy Eucharist and our preborn brothers and sisters from death, to protect authentic Church teaching from deceitful "Catholics" like Joe Biden, and to protect the faithful from the grievous scandal caused by Biden's claims, action and the intolerable dithering and "dialoging" engaged in by the USCCB.

ORIGINAL PETITION:

Joe Biden is scheduled to meet Pope Francis in Rome in a rapidly approaching audience on October 29th.

Please SIGN this urgent petition to Pope Francis urging him to tell Biden that he will face formal excommunication because of his public and obstinate promotion of abortion, and that if he wishes to return to communion with the Church he must immediately and publicly stop and repent from his active support of the culture of death.

But, reports suggest that the pope and Biden are only supposed to speak about COVID and climate change...

However, since we know that the Church prioritizes abortion as the "pre-eminent" moral issue, and also how the pope has recently reiterated the teaching that abortion is "homicide," we ask the Pope to ensure that Biden's scandalous support of abortion become the central focus of their meeting.

The October 31 Angelus is not the first time Pope Francis has focused on the COP26 conference. On Friday, the Pontiff delivered an address in Italian over BBC Radio, in which he said humanity needed “radical decisions” to respond to “the unprecedented threat of climate change.” As he also neglected to do in his Sunday Angelus remarks, the Pope did not mention God or Catholic moral teaching in his BBC address.

In the radio address, Pope Francis drew upon the “Joint Appeal” document drawn up at a preliminary COP26 meeting in the Vatican, which dealt with “care” for the earth, reducing carbon emissions, and lowering the global temperature.

Pope Francis’s relationship to the secular event has been underscored by the timing of the publication of a new piece of his writing. Vatican News has released, “in conjunction with COP26,” the text of a preface Pope Francis wrote for a book that expounds on the ecological encyclical Laudato si, and features a special commentary from U.N. Secretary General António Guterres.

“The ‘Cry of the Earth and the Cry of the Poor’ that I present in Laudato si’ as the emblematic consequence of our failure to care for our common home has been amplified lately by the COVID-19 emergency that humanity is still struggling to control,” wrote the Pope.

“Thus, an ecological crisis, represented by the “cry of the earth,” and a social crisis, represented by the cry of the poor,” have been made deadly by a healthcare crisis: the Covid-19 pandemic. So true are the words of my predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, that “the way humanity treats the environment influences the way it treats itself, and vice versa (Caritas in veritate, n. 51).”

The opening days of the COP26 “climate change” conference have been marked by controversy, as media outlets highlighted the irony of global leaders taking private jets to attend a climate conference.

Scotland’s Daily Record noted that over “400 private jets” were being used to transport the more than 1,000 global leaders, staff and businessmen. Such a number of planes, wrote the Daily Record, would “produce more global warming gas than 1600 Scots burn through in a year.”

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail produced a graphic detailing the flight plans of 52 of the planes, containing politicians and businessmen, some of whom “will be urging others to cut down on air travel and eat less meat.”

“Apparently it is fine for billionaires to fly in on their own planes on routes already served by commercial airlines,” the Daily Mail wrote.

Footage has emerged showing Joe Biden’s presidential otorcade, numbering 23 vehicles, arriving in Glasgow from Edinburgh airport in a display described as “beyond parody.”

Prominent Brexiteer and former Member of the European Parliament Nigel Farage declared that “Every world leader or dignitary that arrives to @COP26 by private jet is an eco-hypocrite. Fact.”
