In a recent episode of the popular show “Touched by an Angel” writer/producer Martha Williamson presents a powerful pro-life message. The episode, “The Empty Chair,” told the story of a couple in Boston involved in the movie business. When the wife finds herself pregnant she is happy, but hearing of her husband’s discontent with her pregnancy she has an abortion. The show details the suffering of post-abortion syndrome and helpful counselling.

In a write-up on the piece by the Pro-Life Committee of the US Catholic bishops it is revealed that “the episode was inspired by Williamson’s own experience following an abortion. Through post-abortion counseling, she found forgiveness and peace – and she offers this story so women contemplating abortion will seek a life-affirming solution for themselves and their children.”

The US bishop’s site encourages pro-lifers to write in support of the episode. Write:  Touched by an Angel, c/o CBS/MTM Studios,  4024 Radford Ave., Studio City, CA 91604 e-mail her at [email protected] The telephone comment line is 323/ 575-2200.
