WASHINGTON, February 18, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Porn peddler, Larry Flynt has joined in the frenzy of mudslinging at President Bush, accusing him of procuring an illegal abortion for a girlfriend in the early 1970’s.

During the early days of the campaign for US president, neither Bush nor Senator Kerry have themselves engaged in any personal attacks, however, this high note has not been followed by their supporters in some circles.  Larry Flynt, owner and purveyor of the Hustler pornographic magazine, was interviewed October 20, 2003 on CNN’s political talk programme, Crossfire, where he made the accusation, but refused to offer proof. Said Flynt, “The young lady does not want to go public, and without her willingness, we don’t feel that we’re on solid enough legal ground to go with the story.” Apparently this did not deter Flynt from scandal mongering, a mainstay of Flynt’s livelihood for thirty years.

CNN later removed the transcript of the interview from their website. But Flynt has reasserted his claims, telling the New York Daily News yesterday: “I’ve tracked down the doctor who did the abortion, I tracked down the Bush people who arranged for the abortion. I got the story nailed.”  He says he will publish the information in an upcoming book.  Since the October revelations, political observer Matt Drudge reported on his website that friends and family of the girl in question, who is still not named, have demanded that Flynt give proof or withdraw his accusation. The Drudge report said that “the woman’s husband, a government employee in law enforcement, has raised the possibility of legal action against anyone who links his wife to a ‘Bush abortion’”.
