LISBON, Portugal, Mar 20, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Zenit News reports that the Portuguese Parliament has approved the free distribution of the abortifacient morning after pill in pharmacies, hospitals and health centres in the predominantly Roman Catholic country. The law was approved with the votes of the Socialist Party, the Communist-Greens, and the Left Bloc, as well as three dissident votes from the Social Democratic Party, a center-right political force.

LifeSite reported last week that Portugal’s National Assembly passed legislation allowing homosexual couples the same rights as heterosexual couples in common law “marriages.”
