WASHINGTON, November 14, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a Zogby post-election poll conducted November 5-10 a full 41% of voters in the nine closely contested Senate races in which a pro-life Republican faced a pro-abortion Democrat, say the abortion issue affected their vote. The poll of 5408 people found that of the 41% whose vote was affected by abortion, most voted pro-life. In the Senate races in the polled states which included Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Dakota and Texas, saw 55% (23% of electorate) of those whose vote was affected by abortion vote for the pro-life Republican over the pro-abortion Democrat who received 39% support (16% of the electorate). Thus the pro-life stand of the candidates garnered 7% of the votes over a pro-abortion stand. On the general ballot, the pro-life position accounted for 25% of the electorate while the pro-abortion position commanded only 13% support, giving the pro-life politics a whopping 12% lead over pro-abortion politics. 40% of those polled in 8 of the states polled said they recalled hearing or seeing information from the National Right to Life PAC.
