OTTAWA, February 7, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A pro-life group is calling for prayers after learning that a strong pro-life MP was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.

Conservative MP Royal Galipeau is a regular attendee at the National March for Life on Parliament Hill and the Rose Dinner in the evening. He has represented the Ottawa-Orléans riding since 2006, and has a perfect voting record on life and family issues, according to Campaign Life Coalition.

Despite the diagnosis, he has said he intends to run in the 2015 federal election. He has continued to appear for all votes in Parliament, but has slowed down his appearance at community functions. His prognosis is encouraging, having been treated with dialysis in the fall. Currently, he is only being treated with acupuncture, said an article at Canada.com.

“Royal Galipeau has been a strong voice for the unborn during his political career, which hasn't always been easy to do in our current political climate. I would encourage everyone to pray for him during his battle with cancer and to support him during the 2015 election,” said Campaign Life Coalition's Youth Co-ordinator, Alissa Golob.
