MILWAUKEE, May 6, 2002 (LSN.ca) – A pregnant Milwaukee woman counseled by a Wisconsin pregnancy center is suing the pro-life agency, alleging maltreatment. Her suit claims that she suffered emotional and physical injuries after visiting the Pregnancy Help Center of Milwaukee on June 15, 2000. She is taking offence to having been shown the truth about abortion, what she describes as “graphically depicted dead and disfigured babies, abortions and babies’ parts.” She also says she was told she had “the devil inside her” and was a “sinner,” adding that the counselor scratched her chest, pulled her hair and held down her arms.  Pro-abortion forces have long been hostile to pregnancy centers that do not include abortion counseling or referrals, often accusing them of malpractice and irresponsible behaviour. In most cases these pro-life pregnancy centers are exonerated. Pro-life pregnancy centers run the risk of retaliation from people who visit them, but in the end decide to proceed with an abortion anyway because the truth they are compelled to provide can be very troubling to the conscience of a woman who has her baby destroyed. Instead of accepting responsibility for her actions, such a woman may find it easier to lash out at the source of her knowledge of what she has done.

Since it as taken almost two years for the woman to launch the suit, the move suggests that the action may be related to post-abortion syndrome. The fact that pregnancy centers haven’t faced more such lawsuits is actually remarkable. The woman who filed the lawsuit and her lawyer refused to speak to the media about the case.  See:  https://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/may02/40676.asp
