WASHINGTON, January 22, 2002 (LSN.ca) – The annual March for Life had an estimated 150,000 to 175,000 participants this year according to witnesses interviewed by LifeSite. President George W. Bush addressed the March live by phone in the early afternoon.

This year marked the first time a bus-load of pro-lifers from Toronto, organized by Campaign Life Coalition, attended the event. Attendees from Toronto told LifeSite the experience was “awesome.” Jeanie Arcand, said, “it was triumphant after the Clinton years” and noted that there were “youngsters galore.” Alex Vernon said it was “fantastic.”“I was totally overwhelmed by the numbers of people; I have never seen anything like that in my life.” Tanya Granic, president of Campaign Life Coalition Youth, told LifeSite that the March was “awesome” with a “phenomenal youth presence” which made up the majority of the participants.
