TORONTO, Nov 1 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Toronto Sun columnist Meed Ward covered the story of the arrest of the three pro-life reporters who were covering the arrest of Linda Gibbons last month. Ward notes that the Canadian Church Press and the Periodical Writers Association of Canada have written letters of protest in the case due to the attack on freedom of the press. The CCP called her arrest an “outrageous infringement of freedom of the press.” PWAC said it “threatens to introduce a chill factor into the freelance reporting of controversial news events.”

Ward points out the insanity of the police action saying: “Police arrest three journalists who are covering a controversial story of intense public interest. Officers confiscate video and still camera film, and lay criminal charges. Are we in East Timor? Pakistan? China? No, all this took place on an otherwise ho-hum Friday morning right here in Toronto the Good.”
