PORT CHARLOTTE, Florida, November 7, 2016 (LifeSiteNews)–A Catholic priest minced no words in a recent sermon as he described in medically accurate detail what happens during a late-term abortion procedure.

After warning parents that they should remove their young children from the church during his distressing message, Father John Fitch of St. Charles Borremeo Catholic Church dismantled common arguments about the “separation of church and state” and support for abortion.

Fitch noted that on his church's public Facebook page, “people will vehemently object to Catholic teaching” when an article related to moral issues is posted.

“Especially in the area of public policy, people will really get upset about it,” he said. “I would not be surprised at all if they are paid partisans that…are intentionally targeting weak-minded or Catholics who have weak faith in order to lead them away from the faith.”

“These are more often than not deceptive practices aimed at harming Catholics,” said Fitch.

“The Catholic Church doesn't endorse political candidates because, well, why would we ever endorse politicians?” he noted, but people complain when the Catholic Church weighs in on moral issues in public policy. “I'm thinking to myself, 'so you expect that politcians are gonna be a protected class? That of all people in the world, in society, that politicians are supposed to be immune from God?'”

The concept of “separation of church and state” is being “misused,” Fitch warned, as a limitation on the church rather than what it is supposed to be: a limitation on the state and the power of the government.

Fitch went on to tell those listening who have procured or been involved in an abortion, “I want you to know in your heart and in your mind that God wants to forgive you…He wants to wrap you in his cloak of mercy and love and forgiveness.”

“I don't understand why so many Catholics continue to support abortion or continue to support people who support abortion,” said Fitch. “If you understand what it is–if you truly understand what it is–you know that it is nothing less than a sheer and utter horror.”

“There are other intrinsic evils, but the list isn't all that long,” he continued.

“I've seen the pictures and I've done the research. I know what takes place” in an abortion “but something tells me that many of you haven't,” said Fitch. “I still don't think people understand what takes place, so that's what I'm going to talk about today. It's going to be uncomfortable to hear. It should be uncomfortable to hear, because it's uncomfortable for you to hear that you are going to fight to make sure that abortion does not continue in our country.”

Fitch read in medical terms what takes place during a partial-birth abortion and what takes place during other forms of late-term abortion.

“Guided by ultrasound, the abortionst grabs the baby's leg with forceps. The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body except for the head,” Fitch solemnly read. “The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole. The scissors are removed, and the suction catheter is inserted. The baby's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed. That is what takes place during a partial-birth abortion.”

“It is a horror. It is a horror,” he said. “And it's shocking that people still continue to support partial-birth abortion.”

During a dialtion and evacuation abortion, also known as a dismemberment abortion, “after the amniotic fluid is removed, the abortionist uses…[an] instrument with sharp teeth to grasp both the baby's arms and legs and tear the limbs from the child's body. The abortionist continues to grasp intestines, spine, heart, lungs,” and other body parts, Fitch explained. “The most difficult part of the procedure is usually finding, grasping, and crushing the baby's head, which is the size of a large plum. After removing pieces of the child's skull, the abortionist uses a curette to scrape the uterus to remove the placenta and any remaining parts of the body.”

“I hope you're uncomfortable,” he continued. “I hope you're offended by having to hear this…if you're offended having to hear this, how offended are you knowing that this takes place? And that many of you empower people to commit these very same acts.”

A common “deception” from “slick politicians” is the line that they are “personally” against abortion but don't want to “impose” their views on others.

“This is an evil deception because it is a lie,” said Fitch. “It is a lie. And they say this in order to get away with their genocide. They say it with intent to deceive, so that they can get the good will of people and continue to murder pre-born babies.”

As a democracy, “we get what we deserve,” Fitch said of the two “characters” running for president. He exhorted his congregation to vote as Catholics first, not as Americans or Republicans or Democrats.
