NEW YORK, July 24 ( – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, spoke at a press conference last week outlining the political ad campaign which debuted in Wednesday’s New York Times and is headed for US newspaper, television and radio in August. Priests for Life is ready to spend a million dollars on this pro-life campaign.

Speaking about the necessity to vote pro-life if you are Christian, Fr. Pavone said “don’t claim to be a believer if you don’t act like one, and don’t claim to be a member of the Church and then misrepresent its teachings.” Moreover, he warned politicians: “To supporters of abortion who profess Christianity, of any denomination, we say stop being a scandal to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Focus on the Family reports that Rev. Rob Schenck, with the National Clergy Council, wholeheartedly agreed with the admonitions. “There is no distinction between an evangelical, Protestant ethic on abortion and the Catholic ethic on abortion,” Schenck said. “In fact, they are drawn from the same stream of moral instruction. That is, Holy Scripture.”
