OTTAWA, May 25 (Lifesitenews.com) – A press release from the Prime Minister’s Office Friday stated that the Supreme Court of Canada ruling regarding same-sex benefits in Ontario “does not mean that same sex couples are legally recognized as ‘married.’” The release states further that:  “No jurisdiction in the world recognizes same-sex ‘marriages.’”

Picking up on the public shock at the undemocratic fashion in which the courts have dictated Canadian law, Chretien said, “we do not believe that the recognition of same sex couples should be left to the courts. It should be left to Parliament to debate and determine when and how such relationships should be covered by benefits and obligations.”
