Pro-Abortion Activist Licks Pro-Lifer’s Camera

By James Tillman

ROCKFORD, Illinois, August 4, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A pro-abortion activist threatened pro-lifers outside of the Northern Illinois Women’s Center (NIWC) before licking the camera lens of a pro-lifer videotaping his aggressive behavior.

He then explained his actions to a police officer by blaming pro-lifers for waking him up with their noise, although most of the noise on the scene was being caused by abortion supporters.

On July 30, James Harnden first advanced towards Bill Landerholm, who was using stilts to allow him to look over the fence around the NIWC’s parking lot and to offer help to mothers.

Harnden came from the direction of the “Minglewood” shop, which he runs together with his pro-abortion girlfriend Karen Elyea.

On seeing Harnden threaten Landerholm, Kevin Rilott followed him with a video camera to record the events. Previously, after pro-lifers have been assaulted near the abortion mill, the abortion mill owner has said he forgot to turn on his security cameras.

Rilott said “Good morning!” and “God bless you!” to Harnden.

After being thus greeted, Harnden, said “You!” to Rilott, charged him, and began to lick the camera and lens with which Rilott was filming him.

Rilott’s film, with saliva dripping down its edge, shows Harnden then advancing towards Rilott aggressively.

“You licked my camera–that’s pretty nasty,” said Rilott. “Yeah, it is,” responded Harnden.

A police officer and other pro-lifers were also coming down the street, however, and Harnden backed off.

The officer intercepted Harnden, and Harnden began to complain about the noise the pro-lifers were making, blaming it for waking him up.

The primary source of noise throughout the morning however was the abortion mill landlord’s girlfriend, who was shouting from a second-floor balcony of a house near the abortion facility, and the radio that the abortion facility tries to use to drown out pro-lifers.

As well, Harnden has a history of aggressive behavior.

James Churchill, another pro-lifer, said that once he was near the “Minglewood” shop, Harnden emerged from the store, pushed him into the street, and shouted profanities at him.

The “Minglewood” shop that Harnden and his girlfriend Karen Elyea run sells crystals, hemp necklaces, incense, and “other items to bring peace and happiness into your home,” according to its website.

When asked about Harnden’s possible motivations, Frank Munda of Stephenson County Right to Life told LifeSiteNews.com that they “suspect that this thing, as bizarre as it is…was orchestrated.”

Alderman Karen Elyea, Harnden’s girlfriend, has previously tried to institute a 100-foot bubble-zone around the NIWC, in which individuals could not approach within 8 feet of women entering the facility.

“She likes to talk about free speech and freedom of assembly; they like it so long as they’re the ones doing the talk and the assembly,” Munda said.

Recently the landlord of the abortion mill used the noise generated by a chainsaw to try to drown out pro-life views.

The Rockford abortion mill has a long history of grotesque displays and perverted behavior by its leaders, however.

Mockery of sacred images, such as a crucified rubber chicken and a nun in a coffin, are displayed in at least one of their windows.

Rubber chickens hanging from nooses in various windows of the facility has previously convinced African Americans of the racism of the facility, so that at least one expectant mother has left the abortuary without getting an abortion.

Pro-lifers have also previously been assaulted outside of the abortion facility.
