WASHINGTON, D.C., June 14, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — According to U.S. rep. Norma Torres (D-Calif.), pro-life men are “sex-starved.”
“It is tiring to hear from so many sex-starved males from this floor talk about a woman’s right to choose,” Rep. Torres said while speaking on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Groans and objections were aired in response, prompting Rep. Rob Woodall (R-Ga.) to ask whether the pro-abortion Democrat whether she would “like to change her last statement.”

Torres responded by saying, “Mr. Speaker, if it pleases my colleague on the other side, I will withdraw my statement about sex-starved males on the floor.” She went on to say, “I will put it in different terms: it is tiring to be here on this floor or in committee as a woman to continue to be counseled about what types of affordable planning — feminine — whether it is family planning conversations that rightfully I deserve to have with my own doctor choosing when women want to have a family and to avoid pregnancies before they become pregnancies,” she said. “It is unfortunate that that is something that continues to be denied to American women day in and day out on this floor. And with that, I will reserve the balance of my time.”
Torres later provided footage of her days in the California state legislature where she also called out men for asserting control over “women’s bodies.”

A native of Guatemala, Torres was once the mayor of Pomona, California. Long an advocate for abortion, she has merited a 100% rating from NARAL.
Torres’s remark about “sex-starved males” came during congressional debate over Title X federal funding for contraception and related programs. She responded to Rep. Ross Spano (R-Fla.), who had blasted the appropriations for allowing federal funds to be used for abortion. He said, “For more than 40 years, this country operated under the policy that not one cent of taxpayer money can be used to fund abortion. We are a nation that deeply values religious liberty.” Spano continued, saying, “This rule further protects Americans’ tax dollars being forced to subsidize entities that kill unborn children.”
While pro-abortion organizations such as NARAL and Planned Parenthood have said for decades that abortion is entirely up to the mother in question and her doctor, NARAL is now calling on men to speak up in favor of abortion as part of its “Men for Choice” outreach. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) tweeted, for instance, “To the men of America: It’s time for us to stand up & #StopTheBans. It is time to recognize that women’s reproductive rights are about all our rights and health care. MenForChoice must join together with women to make sure these human rights are protected once and for all.” Blumenthal has also come out in support of fetal tissue research.

The pro-life movement, on the other hand, has been notable for its outspoken women, including Lila Rose and Star Parker.
