DURHAM, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — Pro-family Canadians, including a local city councilor, protested in front of an Ontario school board’s headquarters last week as part of the Million Person March against LGBT indoctrination in schools.
On September 20, pro-family protesters gathered outside Durham District School Board headquarters, located in the Toronto suburb of Whitby, Ontario, to voice their opposition to LGBT ideology being taught to children. The event, organized by a group called DDSB Concerned Parents, urged for the strengthening of parental rights and coincided with the nationwide Million Person March for Children.
“What we are saying today is that parents must be at the forefront of decisions that affect their children,” Pickering City Councilor Lisa Robinson told the crowd. “We refuse to accept a system that tells children to keep secret from their parents (…) that pushes confusing and divisive ideologies.”
“No safe adult would ask children to keep a secret from their patents,” Robinson declared. “The curriculum being implemented in our schools, particularly curriculum like SOGI curriculum raises grave concerns.”
“Parents are shut out and left in the dark and have been told that their concerns are irrelevant,” she continued. “But let me tell you, parents voices will no longer be silenced.
Another speaker pointed out that “it’s just common sense” that school curriculum’s remain “age appropriate.”
The protesters lined up on the road in front of the Durham District School Board, holding signs reading “Leave our kids alone” and demanding “age appropriate materials.” The event also included speeches and the singing of petitions demanding parental rights within the school system.
The pro-family protestors were met by LGBT activists who worked to disrupt the event by shouting during the speeches. As the rally went on, the LGBT protesters became increasingly aggressive.
Near the end, as the pro-family protestors were packing up to leave, LGBT activist stole some of the pro-family signs. This caused an altercation which the police quickly stepped in to end.

The protest was only one of many held in Canada last Friday as thousands of Canadians took to the streets to participate in the second Million Person March for Children.
There were some reports of counter-protesters at events, including the main event in Ottawa, which saw confrontation between left-wing, pro-LGBT activists and some march participants. There was another report of a “radical trans activists” trying to disrupt marchers in Ottawa.
The event was organized by Muslim pro-family activist Kamel El-Cheikh.
“We refuse to stand by while the Government and School system allow sexually explicit content and gender ideology to be distributed in our classrooms,” he said.
Hands Off Our Kids, El-Cheikh’s organization, works together with other pro-family groups, including CLC, the Mama Bears, Veterans for Freedom, and, just recently, Canadians for Truth.
The group’s main message, as per its website, is that “parents are responsible for their children’s moral and upbringing, not politicians and that is why it is our duty to speak up and have our voices heard when we say, ‘HANDS OFF OUR KIDS.’”
