WASHINGTON, April 8, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Over a thousand schools and colleges across the country are getting ready to participate in a National “Day of Silence” to take place this Wednesday, April 10, 2002. The event is sponsored by GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) and the USSA (United States Students Association). The purpose is to draw national attention to the so called “harassment”, “prejudice”, “intolerance” and “discrimination”“gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender persons suffer on a daily basis”.

Many of the participating schools have GSAs (Gay/Straight Alliances) also known as “gay” clubs. These organizations, and/or teachers and students sympathetic to promoting homosexuality, are coordinating the day’s activities. Though GLSEN’s website touts “over a thousand schools and colleges will participate”, this number seems to be exaggerated. Linda Harvey of Mission America says “We believe this list has been padded for impact, and that a lot of these events will never occur”.

Stephen Bennett was actively involved in homosexuality until he was 28 years old. Today, a Christian Recording Artist, Bennett is a 38 year old husband and father of two little children. Stephen is happily married to his wife of almost nine years who knew him when he was single and homosexual. The couple heads Stephen Bennett Ministries in Huntington, CT, a national ministry dedicated to sharing the truth in love about homosexuality.

Stephen Bennett is one of the national spokesmen for the Christian response to Wednesday’s “Day Of Silence” – “Truth Without Interruption Day” All parents and students around the country wanting to share the truth about homosexuality with the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) participants are urged to download a special handout to give to the “silent students” – God Loves The Homosexual The one page flyer contains Bennett’s story “Coming Out” of homosexuality, as well as a passionate plea from Stephen to open their hearts, minds, eyes and ears to the truth about homosexuality.
