KYIV (LifeSiteNews) – The Vulnerable People Project, a project of Human Rights Education and Relief Organization (H.E.R.O.) successfully evacuated 500 Ukrainians to the Polish border amid urgent migration of citizens from its war-torn country. Some of the evacuated include pregnant women and the elderly.

The Vulnerable People Project is there to help countless families amid this escalating humanitarian crisis. Jason Jones, U.S. Army Veteran, filmmaker and humanitarian, is now urging Americans to help provide vital financial resources in order to help their team of local Ukrainians get the vulnerable out of a worsening situation.

“Without our help families face imminent danger at the hands of the Russian army,” said Jason Jones, founder of the Vulnerable People Project. “We have been inundated with requests from Ukraine to help with evacuations because of our continued success in evacuating so many in Afghanistan amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Now we are being called upon to do the same for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, and we are committed to helping people who are in peril. The entire world has been deeply moved by what is happening in Ukraine and we know the American people stand at the ready to support vulnerable people abroad.”

The Vulnerable People Project aims to support as many people as possible and intends to purchase ambulances to help with urgent medical needs. The organization’s primary liaison to Ukraine is working to urgently connect funds from America to the on-ground evacuation efforts in Ukraine.

“We are getting them out safely,” said Irina Skaya, Vulnerable People Project’s manager for Hope for Ukraine. “There are children, mothers and expecting mothers forced to get out at a moment’s notice. Even though they wanted to stay, we are getting them to the Polish border and placing them in private homes, Airbnb or in temporary student housing. The funds we raise will aid in evacuation and urgent medical needs.”
