July 22, 2015 (NationalRightToLifeNews) — Pro-life Ohio Governor John Kasich, appearing at The Ohio State University, announced today that he is running for President of the United States.
Gov. Kasich’s announcement came 20 minutes into what was described as an emotional, largely unscripted speech which he gave to an estimated crowd of 4,000 at the Ohio Union.
There are now 16 announced Republican presidential candidates, all holding pro-life positions, except one.
In addition to Gov. Kasich, they include former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, retired surgeon Ben Carson, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former New York Gov. George Pataki, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, businessman Donald Trump, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
On the Democratic side, there are five announced candidates, all pro-abortion. They are former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and former Virginia Senator Jim Webb.

Not surprisingly, Ohio Right to Life put out a release “celebrating Governor Kasich’s tremendous pro-life leadership over the last five years.”
Among his achievements, they touted the 14 laws supported by Ohio Right to Life that Kasich has signed since 2011, the 17% decrease in the number of abortions since 2010, and the late-term abortion ban he signed in 2011.
