“The greatest blessing of my 38 years in the pro-life movement has been the communion of saints – the faithful, dedicated people I have worked with on the front lines, defending the lives of unborn babies,” Scheidler told LifeSiteNews . “These people are my heroes, and I’m looking forward to getting together with so many of them at the tribute on April 2.”

Scheidler is known as the father of pro-life activism who, beginning in the early 1970s, infused the pro-life movement with a bold, creative, no-nonsense approach to ending the injustice of abortion. His leadership style defined the meaning of pro-life direct action.

Scheidler has inspired generations of pro-life activists, and paved the way for opponents of abortion to be bold about their fight for life. He has spoken around the country and the world, authored the book “Closed: 99 Ways to Stop Abortion,” and produced videos featuring former abortionists who are now telling the truth about what goes on in abortion clinics.

In his fight for the unborn, Scheidler has gone all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to defend his beliefs, and has worked with a variety of people, from President Reagan and Pope John Paul II to the sidewalk counselors who are the unsung heroes of the pro-life movement.

“The pro-life movement that I helped to launch is fighting for the very survival of our society, which cannot long endure the destruction of our posterity through abortion. This is the greatest crisis of our time, and I’m honored to have fought side-by-side with so many pro-life saints,” said Scheidler.

The Tribute will on Saturday, April 2 from 6:00 PM, at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza Hotel, 350 West Mart Center Drive, in Chicago. For more information, click here. The event is open to the public.
