CINCINNATI, Dec 1 (LSN.ca) – The pro-life community in Cincinnati is shocked and outraged at the antics of a supposed pro-life leader in the community for supporting the campaign of a pro-abortion judge to be appointed to the state Supreme Court. The current issue of the St. Catherine Review relates that Mary Ann Boyd, Respect Life Coordinator for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati publicly endorsed Democrat Tim Black, 47, for a seat on the Supreme Court of Ohio with lawn signs during the recent election season.

Black’s ties to the pro-abortion movement run deep and his run ins with pro-lifers have been hurtful, and bitter. Activists recall Black’s intimate association with Planned Parenthood and his involvement in bringing about the arrests of innocent pro-life activists praying on public sidewalks. The Review points out that Black’s stand is well known in the community so there was no chance of confusion. In fact, Boyd was even personally phoned to appraise her of Black’s stand. Right to Life-Greater Cincinnati gave Black a “not recommended” rating in its 2000 “Candidate Review” voting guide based upon the aforementioned relationship with the largest provider of surgical abortions in the U.S.

Other area pro-life leaders were “angered and appalled” and “scandalized” with Boyd. Pro-life lawyer Tom Condit whose father mounted a defence for the pro-lifers charged under Black’s connivance commented, “I have been privileged to represent hundreds of pro-lifers in town, and I have met many others who have been very active and visible in the pro-life movement . . Why isn’t one of them in her (important high-level) job?”

Catholic pro-lifers have begun to contact the Archbishop with their concerns. To contact the Archdiocese of Cincinnati: Most Reverend Daniel E. Pilarczyk, 100 East Eighth Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202
