SILVER CITY, New Mexico, December 12, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – The Benedictine monks of Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery offer a pro-life, delicious alternative to coffee sold by large pro-abortion companies.

Pro-life coffee drinkers spent around $11 billion on coffee last year, according to Brother Bernard Marino. About $4 billion of that $11 billion went to an anti-life coffee company.

Brother Bernard, a former architect, roasts around 300 pounds of coffee beans daily. He learned his roasting techniques in Brazil, where he helped design a monastery building.

The monks’ Abbey Roast Cafe4Life program gives various pro-life groups profits from its sales. Parishes can also buy the coffee wholesale and sell it to benefit works of mercy. This holiday season, sales of the monks’ Christmas blend will exclusively benefit LifeSiteNews.

The monk-brewed java is the official coffee of the March for Life, served at its conference, inside the VIP tent, and at its Rose Dinner.

In addition to the Christmas blend exclusively benefiting LifeSiteNews, the monks sell “white coffee,” a high-caffeine, unique-tasting light blonde roast that is “rich in natural antioxidants”; a Brazilian roast (“our most popular roast,” they explain); a “slightly sweet” French Roast with no bitter aftertaste; a “Black and White Roast” that combines their French and white roasts; and Irish, Veracruz, and decaf blends. The decaf coffee is natural and prepared without chemicals. The monks also make espresso using a secret recipe.

“Our prized, direct trade, Brazilian gourmet coffee is harvested from a small family-owned plantation located in the mountains of Nova Friburgo, Brazil, and was awarded first prize in the Rio de Janeiro Specialty Coffee Competition for quality,” the monks explain on their website. “We are the exclusive importers of this acclaimed coffee.”

At a time when much of the Catholic Church seems to be in decline, and abortion and gender ideology are damaging so much of society, Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery is a beacon of hope.

“We have lots of vocations, and they’re all young,” Brother Bernard told LifeSiteNews.

The monks also love meeting families at the March for Life.

“I think I’m more edified by the people I see at the March [for Life] than we edify other people,” said Brother Bernard. They are the “salt-of-the-earth Catholics who are [going to] restore the Church.”

Brother Bernard said he dreams of eventually opening a brick-and-mortar pro-life coffee shop, complete with a nursery and run by mothers who chose life.
