(LifeSiteNews) — On this week’s episode of The Van Maren Show, Jonathon talks with Canadian pro-life hero Mary Wagner about her courageous efforts in risking imprisonment over and over again to defend the lives of the unborn.
Wagner’s first experiences in pro-life activism involved sidewalk counseling, but she felt called to give more after drawing closer to God in prayer and realizing she couldn’t in good conscience let a pregnant woman she had established a relationship with follow through on her scheduled abortion.
“That desire to be with her, to remain the presence of her and her children who was in imminent danger, was clear,” Wagner says. “And it just led to my being arrested, because when I went inside [the facility] with her, and that confrontation happened by me speaking up for and to a mother, I was told to leave and I knew I couldn’t leave. So that led to my arrest.”
Wagner has spent roughly six years imprisoned across multiple stints. She says becoming a prisoner of conscience stemmed from God making “really clear … the reality of what happens to the child in an abortion.”
But now Wagner’s life has taken a bit of a new direction, albeit one that she considers a “continuation” of all her previous work. Listen to the full episode below to find out:
