Help pro-life heroes expose the truth about abortion: LifeFunder

ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (LifeSiteNews) — After two weeks in solitary confinement for conducting a Pink Rose Rescue earlier this month, Lauren Handy and Joan Andrews Bell were released from custody in Alexandria.

A total of 15 supporters, along with LifeSiteNews, greeted the pro-life warriors as they were released shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

When asked why she continues the pro-life work that has repeatedly landed her in prison, she replied, “because babies keep dying. And I hope, please God, that soon they’ll stop dying. That’s the only reason.” She has been arrested over 200 times in defense of the unborn.

“I feel terrible we missed LifeSiteNews gala,” Joan said in her first statement following her release, having confused the dates.

Lauren Handy has been arrested 30 times for her mission of saving unborn babies. However, time in jail does not dissuade her from pursuing the mission.

“Rescue is the past, present and future of our movement,” she told LifeSiteNews this morning. “It’s the only way to directly intervene between the oppressor and the oppressed, between the murderer and the baby. And radical acts of violence need to be met with radical acts of love.”

“You find a sense of peace when you surrender everything to Jesus,” she added when asked if discouragement overtook her during her many imprisonments.

Lauren thanked all of those who support the rescuers, saying, “Your prayers mean the world.”

She encouraged others to “renew [their] commitments” to helping women in unplanned or unwanted pregnancies and defending the lives of the unborn.

“I’m out here today renewing my commitment,” Lauren concluded. “I’m excited to go to the streets tomorrow.”
