PHILADELPHIA, July 25, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – A nationally known pro-life writer left CNN anchor Don Lemon speechless after making a bon mot against Planned Parenthood.

Eric Metaxas, who writes the nationally syndicated “Breakpoint” daily radio commentaries, discussed why Hillary Clinton selected Tim Kaine as her vice presidential running mate, a senator Planned Parenthood once criticized for signing a bill establishing a “Choose Life” license plate in Virginia.

“The Democrats are considered the party of Planned Parenthood and selling baby parts,” he said.

“She has to deal with that,” he said, adding that Clinton’s outreach to the Religious Left is part of her efforts to blunt negative press over her party’s unpopular position favoring taxpayer-funded abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy, at home and abroad.

Selecting Sen. Tim Kaine – a former Catholic missionary to Honduras who has said he “personally” opposes abortion – as her running mate may give her the appearance of moderation, critics have said.

Lemon replied that Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards – said she was “very enthused” about the choice shortly after it was announced on Friday night – “has a very high opinion” of Sen. Kaine.

“Right – now that he’s out of the womb,” Metaxas replied.

Lemon absentmindedly agreed, “Yeah, yeah” before realizing what Metaxas had said. He then rolled his eyes.

“Enough?” Metaxas asked.

“Yeah,” Lemon said once more before going to former Fox News host and Democratic consultant Bob Beckel.

“I loved being on and hope Don Lemon will have me back soon,” Metaxas said after the appearance, adding that his remark “just came out.”

“This is an important time in our country and we need to talk about these things,” he added.

The Democratic National Convention begins this evening in Philadelphia.
