Oct. 6, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – From coast to coast in the United States and Canada, October 4th is the annual day of public witness for children killed by abortion. In over 1500 locations across North America – over 200 locations in Canada alone – pro-life activists lined the streets.  In some cities, such as San Antonio, over 1000 people showed up.

(The locations these chains were held at can be seen at www.LifeChain.net.)

Life Chain participants hold signs with messages saying: “Abortion Kills Children,” “Jesus Forgives And Heals,” “Adoption: The Loving Option,” “Lord, Forgive Us And Our Nation,” “Abortion Hurts Women,” “Pray To End Abortion,” and “Life-The First Inalienable Right.”

Tens of thousands of people across the country stood silently on the side of highways or roads, witnessing for life of the unborn.

This was the 28th national Life Chain.

At the Life Chain in Barry’s Bay, Ontario, over half the student body of the local college Our Lady Seat of Wisdom were in attendance, composing a good section of the crowd that gathered on the chilly afternoon in the small town.

Life Chain is a peaceful protest. The people in attendance are encouraged to remain silent during the hour they stand there.  The participants are instructed to be mindful of blocking sidewalks or getting in the way. Many passersby show their support by honking or waving as they drive by.

Life Chains are a powerful witness as they are on public roads and seen by hundreds of thousands people.

From its humble beginnings, hundreds of thousands take part, and millions of Americans are reached with the pro-life message each year on the first Sunday of October.

Next year’s Life Chain has been set for Sunday, October 2, 2016.
