September 25, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – On the next two Sundays, pro-life advocates in Canada and the United States will gather along roadways and intersections for National Life Chain.

In a public witness to the sanctity of human life, they will stand and pray silently while holding signs with messages such as “Abortion kills children;” “Adoption the Loving Option;” “Abortion Hurts Women;” “Life the first inalienable right.”

National Life Chain Canada is set for September 30, a week earlier than the American event to avoid conflict with Canada’s Thanksgiving weekend.

National Life Chain in the United States is set for October 7.

“Life Chain is a tremendous show of unity amongst pro-life Canadians,” said Josie Luetke, committee member of Life Chain Canada.

“From coast to coast, young and old join together to peacefully testify as a community to the truth that abortion kills children and harms women and to pray for an end to this injustice,” she added. “Through their witness, countless are reminded of our ever-present duty to defend the vulnerable.”

National Life Chain Sunday on October 7 has the same goal, with participants holding signs “with intent to save at-risk preborn children and to end abortion cruelty.”

Life Chain “hopes to draw our minds and hearts to honest self-assessment of our love for abortion victims,” says a press statement from the American National Life Chain headquarters.

“Will not the depth of our love determine the future of legal child killing in our church community and nation?”

Last year in the United States, “1,548 cities and towns joined the annual event, which began in two small California towns in 1987,” it reported.

Life Chain Canada reports 200 confirmed Life Chain locations across the country for September 30, where the event runs from 2 to 3 p.m.

The Life Chains in Toronto and Ottawa are organized by the Life Chain committee of Campaign Life Coalition, Canada’s national pro-life and pro-family lobbying group and the country’s largest pro-life association.
