MONTREAL, Feb 5 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A recently released report by the Bureau de la Statistique du Quebec notes that Quebec’s population will start to decline as early as 7 years from now after the population reaches 7.4 million. The devastating statistical report points to soaring abortion and sterilization rates and a meager birth rate of 1.5 babies per woman as the problem.

In 1997, 27,993 abortions (35 per 100 births) were reported in the province compared to 8,069 (8.3 per 100 births) twenty years ago. While the number of hysterectomies has declined from a high of over 20,000 in 1980 to nearly 13,000 in 1997, the number of vasectomies hit its highest level in 1997 with 20,163 up from 8,021 ten years ago. Since the statistics were first reported in 1971, over 535,000 women had their tubes tied in Quebec.
