Quebec still self-destructing

QUEBEC CITY, April 29, 2002 (LSN.ca) – Quebec Attorney General Paul Begin announced Friday that the province will give legal status to homosexual unions by late June. A draft bill presented in the legislature Thursday would give homosexual couples the same rights as married couples including adoption and artificial insemination.

“It will be a civil union for gays and lesbians, just like marriage for heterosexuals,” Begin told reporters. Hearings on the legislation are scheduled for May. Once passed Quebec follows Nova Scotia to become the second Canadian province to legalize homosexual civil unions.

In a shocking move the Quebec Catholic Bishops Conference failed in their duty to condemn such civil unions choosing to ignore and contradict the example of the Pope. Curiously, Quebec has been experiencing a demographic implosion, with one of the world’s lowest birthrates and Quebec nationalists bemoaning the fact that Quebecers have stopped having children. It appears that continuing the sexual revolution is still more important to the province than its demographic survival.
