OTTAWA, Dec 21 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Last week in the Canadian Senate, feminist senator Lucie Pépin paid tribute to the “contributions of prominent Canadian women.” Exposing the extreme feminist bias of her remarks, Pépin, mentioning about 15 women to whom “society owes a great deal,”  included three female abortion and contraception promoters, two of whom operated illegally in Canada.  “Other Canadian heroines include Elizabeth Bagshaw, Dr. Marion Powell and Dr. Lise Fortier.

Dr. Bagshaw was the director of the first birth control clinic in Canada. She directed the Ontario clinic illegally from 1932 to 1966. Dr. Powell did the same in Toronto. Dr. Lise Fortier established the first family planning clinic in Quebec and worked tirelessly to obtain the right to choose for Canadian women,” said Pépin.

Pépin ended her tribute with the feminist war cry: “Never retreat, never explain, never apologize. Get the thing done and let them howl.”

The radically feminist stance seen in Canadian politics has given rise to suspicion that a policy restricting men from certain leadership positions is in place.

Beyond Prime Minister Chretien’s admitted favouritism for women candidates in the 1997 federal election, recent appointments to the position of the Queen’s representative in the legislature have been all female. Adrienne Clarkson was recently appointed Governor-General of Canada and before that Hillary Weston was appointed Lieutenant-Governor in Ontario.

Also within the last month Lois Hole was appointed Lieutenant-Governor in Alberta and Lynda Haverstock is the new appointee in Saskatchewan.
