OTTAWA, October 4, 2001 (LSN.ca) – LifeSite has learned that the National Action Committee on the Status of Women (NAC) is holding its annual lobby on Monday October 15. The radical group of feminists, which is heavily funded by the federal government gained notoriety recently as news broke of the feminist conference at which former NAC head Sunera Thobai suggested the United States deserved the terrorist attacks.
NAC says it has invited each of the parties to attend a lobby session individually for a “town-hall style” meeting. Political insiders say that while the socialist NDP party is always at the lobby, members of most other parties are looking for excuses to skip the feminist rant session.
Mary-Ellen Douglas, National Organizer for Campaign Life Coalition, told LifeSite that many women in Canada are offended by NAC’s persistent boast to represent Canadian women. Commenting on the feminist slam of the United States, Douglas said, “Sunera Thobani, president of Status of Women, has the audacity to accuse the U.S. of being ‘soaked in blood’ when her organization is the leading promoter of the continual slaughter of innocent infants in their mothers’ wombs.” Campaign Life Coalition calls for the immediate removal of the Status of Women from the taxpayers’ troughs.
