OTTAWA, June 4 (LSN) – MP Eric Lowther, Reform Party family caucus chair, urged pro-family Canadians to pressure the Liberal government to appeal the April 23rd Rosenberg decision in which the Ontario Court of Appeal “read in” a same-sex definition of the word “spouse” into the federal Income Tax Act.  Lowther notes that since “the Income Tax Act is federal legislation, it is the federal government which would have to appeal this decision [however] the Liberal government has not acted, even though the deadline for them to do so is June 23rd.  Lowther said the Reform Party will raise the issue for debate in the House of Commons beginning on Monday June 8. The Reform Party include in its pro-family platform a commitment to traditional definitions of marriage and family.
