WASHINGTON, Aug 14 (LSN) – Jewish, Protestant and Catholic religious leaders spoke out against homosexuality Wednesday at a press conference sponsored by the Family Research Council (FRC).  Rabbi Yehuda Levin of New York, a member of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of U.S. and Canada said “We the religious people have to start to act up” against the homosexual agenda, “draw a line in the sand.”  Rev. Jerome McFarland, a Baptist minister from Washington, D.C said, “The Bible is clear in its teaching that the practice of homosexual lifestyle is sin. It is evil, it is wrong, indecent, detestable,  abominable and contrary to the express will of God…. But God can help the homosexual. God offers help to the homosexual through personal faith.”  Fr. Thomas Morrow, a Roman Catholic priest who counsels homosexuals in Washington, stated that homosexuality is a “deviant lifestyle.”“Legislation protecting homosexual persons becomes protection of behavior or a point of view. This is quite different from laws which prevent discrimination based on race, sex or age,” said Fr. Morrow. Fr. Morrow noted that while individuals practicing homosexual behaviour should be encouraged to amend their lives they must also be treated with compassion and sensitivity.  Responding to critics who demanded to know why the FRC was concentrating on homosexuality rather than other biblically defined sexual sins FRC spokesman Steve Schwalm said, “There’s no lobby promoting adultery. There’s no lobby promoting fornication. It’s the homosexual lobby that’s changing laws.  That’s why we’ve had to respond.”
