OTTAWA, Aug 8, 2001 (LSN.ca) – A group fighting sexual exploitation of children has come out with a report noting that Canada withdrew from an international police crackdown on the world’s most intricate child pornography network, allowing 16 members of the group living in Canada to go unpunished. The National Post has obtained an advanced copy of the report commissioned by the international group End Child Prostitution and Trafficking, which will be presented in December at the Second World Congress on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children.

The report exposes a child porn network called The Wonderland Club responsible for creating at least 160,000 sexually explicit images of children and videos of horrific child sexual abuse. An internationally coordinated police effort identified 180 members of the group in 45 countries, with 14 countries joining in the crackdown. Canada pulled out of the investigation the night before an intended Sept 2, 1998 international sweep of all the members. Canada was the only country not to make any arrests.

The report said Canadian suspects lived in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, and noted that each prospective member had to provide members with 10,000 new sexually explicit images of children.
