LISBON, Portugal, Aug 14 (LSN) – The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (CAFHRI) reported on the adopted Lisbon declaration today outlining some pro-life victories and shedding light on the UN proposals to further erode life and family. Thanks to the efforts of the Vatican and pro-life youth lobbyists, a paragraph recognizing the family as “the basic unit of society” and positive language regarding marriage were inserted into the final version of the Lisbon Declaration.  As reported yesterday, the Lisbon Declaration also demanded access to “reproductive health care” and “family planning methods of their choice” for youth. With this language the UN seeks to undermine parental authority over the sexual practices of their children and allow abortion and artificial contraception. CAFHRI noted that Paul Bloem, spokesman for the UN’s World Health Organization revealed at a press conference on August 10 that “UN agencies interpret the Lisbon Declaration’s health recommendations as being applicable to children as young as 10.”
