OTTAWA, Jan 25 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Reform MP Jason Kenney charged Revenue Canada with discrimination against charities with conservative viewpoints, and promised to demand a parliamentary review of the regulations when the House resumes in February. Pro-life charities Human Life International and Alliance for Life were both stripped of their charitable status (Alliance is awaiting its day in court). Also, The Challenge Team, a youth organization that promotes chastity, has been refused charitable status for refusing to push condoms and birth control.

The National Post reported today that “Charity law prohibits groups from political activity or providing information that gives only one perspective on an issue, particularly on politically sensitive issues like abortion.” Yet, Mr. Kenney observed that Revenue Canada has given charitable status to Childbirth by Choice Trust (affiliated with the Canadian Abortion Rights Action League) which directs women to abortionists.

“We’re going to be opening the whole file on the confused, contradictory, sometimes just plain outrageous application of charity law,” Kenney promised as he accused Revenue Canada of making “political judgements.”
