NEW YORK, Feb 23 2001 (LSN.ca) – On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Gary Cherone, formerly of the rock groups Van Halen and Extreme, released a letter to Eddie Vedder, lead singer of the Rock group Pearl Jam. The letter is the second installment in Gary’s challenging Vedder’s position that “terminating pregnancy is not an easy thing.” This time Cherone asks “Why would one feel it (terminating pregnancy) is not an easy thing to do?” He poetically states:
“If the unborn is not a human person No justification for abortion is necessary However… If the unborn is a human person No justification for abortion is adequate”
Bryan Kemper, director of Rock For Life commented on the letters saying, “It is a courageous act for someone in the music business to go against the blind masses and take a stand for truth and life.”“I hope others with influence over so many will open their eyes to the truth, and have the courage to speak out.”
