ROME, September 21, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Rome’s Carabinieri in cooperation with Europol conducted a huge raid today, code-named “Icebreaker 2”, against child pornography on the Internet, according to an AGI report.

The raid resulted in 130 people being placed under investigation, 60 of those in Italy, and dozens of searches in 6 European countries. Hundreds of PCs and recording media were seized. 25 of the individuals were charged with possession and distribution of child pornography. One is also charged with child sexual abuse.

AGI reports the raid is part of an investigation started on June 14, 2004. That raid led to over 140 searches in 13 European countries. The raid began with the seizure of an Italian web site that was found to be linked to an international network of pedophiles.
