NEW YORK, Jan 13 (LSN) – Lawrence Lader, president of Abortion Rights Mobilization (ARM)—the group formed to promote the abortion pill RU-486 in the US—announced yesterday that 1,600 women have been given the drug under an FDA approved research project. ARM has pledged to treat at least 10,000 women for the project and recently gained FDA approval for treatment of patients up to nine weeks pregnant in contrast to eight weeks in France, Britain and Sweden.  ARM also boasts 12 national outlets for the abortion pill in the US.
